ORDINANCE NO. 984

AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF STAMFORD TO

ADOPT A NEW FEE SCHEDULE FOR

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

APPLICATIONS

WHEREAS, Section 8-1c of the Connecticut General Statutes authorizes any municipality by ordinance to establish a schedule of reasonable fees for the processing of applications by a municipal zoning commission, planning commission, combined planning and zoning commission, zoning board of appeals or inland wetlands commission; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C6-50-1 of the Stamford City Charter the primary function of the Zoning Board of Appeals is to consider variance applications of the zoning regulations where there is an unusual hardship with the land; and

WHEREAS, the administrative costs of reviewing and processing Zoning Board of Appeals application has significantly increased; and

WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Stamford to increase the fees for said applications to cover the higher costs; and

WHEREAS, Section 8-1c of the Connecticut General Statutes authorizes any municipality by ordinance to establish a schedule of reasonable fees for processing applications by a municipal Zoning Board of Appeals.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY OF STAMFORD THAT:

Pursuant to Section 8-1c of the Connecticut General Statutes, the following application fee schedule is adopted:

Category Fee

Variance 1-3 Family $135.00

Variance 4+ Family (Multifamily) $215.00

All other variance applications $300.00

Special Exceptions $300.00

Appeal of Zoning Enforcement Officer’s Decision $300.00

Motor Vehicle $300.00

This ordinance shall take effect upon enactment.
