The Fiscal Committee is the Committee to which all financial matters are referred. The Fiscal Committee considers and makes a recommendation to the full Board on:
- the annual city, Board of Education, special revenues budgets;
- operating, capital and grant requests for additional appropriations;
- resolutions and appropriation authorizations for all grants;
- bonding and refunding resolutions;
- contracts that relate to the city’s fiscal operations.
The Fiscal Committee is also charged with reviewing and monitoring:
- the status of authorized spending and projects, especially large funded organizations and/or departments vis-à-vis major budget initiatives and achievement of goals;
- regular tracking reports of key budget items;
- performance and policies of Department of Administration;
- audits.
The Fiscal Committee also sets the framework of expectations for budget managers and establishes information requirements for written summary budget information.
