There are forty unpaid and elected volunteers on the Board of Representatives. Stamford has twenty districts; each district has two representatives. There are currently twenty-five (24) Democrats and sixteen (16) Republicans. Members serve four-year terms, concurrent with the Mayor’s term.
If a vacancy occurs, the Board of Representatives appoints someone to fill the seat until the next biennial election.
